White Caterpillar

Saw this caterpillar walking down the sidewalk
on my walk today.
Anyone know what kind it is?
Its about as big as my thumb.
It has a black head.

  2. Nice shot. He/She is an interesting little creature. I wonder about the purpose of the different colored hairs (to blend in or possibly a defense mechanism).

  6. Cute larvae, for such a scary-looking moth. I believe that is the Apatelodes torrefacta. Supposedly, they have red feet. Did you get a chance to see the footsies under that wooly frock?
