The Thomas Viaduct

The 175 anniversary of the Thomas Viaduct was celebrated on July 5th with a ceremony to start off a fundraising campaign to pay for repairs and to build a park. It's only about 15 minutes from home so we went to take a look. The ceremony was held about a mile from the viaduct. We took a little walk to see it close up and took a few pictures. It is the oldest continuously operating railroad in North America. CXS freight trains and MARC commuter trains pass over it daily going between Baltimore's Camden Station and Union Station in Washington, DC.

  2. That would make an outstanding backdrop for portrait photography. I need to start keeping an eye out for such landscapes... but local ones.
